JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - Gold Fields said a worker had been killed at the group's underground operations at its Kloof mine early on Tuesday, and the mine's main shaft had been shut for risk assessment and an investigation. It was unclear how much the company would lose owing to the closure of the mine's main shaft, Vishnu Pillay, head of South African operations at Gold Fields told Reuters. The mine has five shafts, which produce a total of between 70 kg (2,471 ounces) and 75 kg of gold per day. |
